I love my Blending Brushes from Stampin’ Up! they are so versatile. You can create so many different things using them! For today’s project, I am using them to sponge a colorful background that can be customized for any occasion!
In an order of Blending Brushes, you will receive three brushes that are perfect for covering large areas of paper. I have 6 brushes and I group them according to color families. So I have one for blues, reds, yellows, browns, purples, and greens.

How to Sponge A Background Using Blending Brushes
To make this card first cut and score the card base. Next, cut your layers and have additional scrap pieces of Basic White nearby for stamping and die-cutting.
The first step is to use the Blending Brushes to sponge Magenta Madness in the corners of the Basic White piece, leaving space in the middle. Be sure to start blending off of your Basic White Piece, this way the harsh lines are diminished and more blended in. Make sure to clean off your Blending Brush if you only have one for reds by rubbing excess color off on another piece of paper.
Use a clear block to dab off excess ink before sponging on cardstock. You can also pick up ink from this block.
Next, sponge Flirty Flamingo in the top corner and in the bottom corner as well leaving one corner blank. Blend Flirty Flamingo into Magenta Madness.
Using Daffodil Delight blend into the remaining white areas and a little bit into Flirty Flamingo and Magenta Madness. You can go back with a clean brush to blend the colors more.
Next, run the piece through the Die Cut and Emboss Machine using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
Stamp the two-step flower using Magenta Madness. For the first step stamp off onto a piece of paper before stamping onto a scrap piece of Basic White. Then stamp over the image in full Magenta Madness to create a two-toned look. Also, stamp the steam in Old Olive.
Die-cut both pieces out using the Die Cut and Emboss Machine
Using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies cut out the large shape using the Machine before stamping ‘Happy Birthday’ in Magenta Madness on the right side and adhere onto the sponged Basic White layer using dimensionals.
Adhere Layer to Basic White layer and then to Magenta Madness Card base
Adhere the flower and stem onto the shape using dimensionals and embellish with Opal Pearls
