With blender pens you can easily color in stamped images! Tricks for coloring with blender pens are to use Memento ink to stamp your image so you can blend your water color pencils together without picking up the excess ink. Another trick is to emboss your image that way you can add a bit of shimmer and shine to a card.

When using your blender pen to color an image, it is important to pay attention to how much color you have laid down onto your image before blending with the blender pens. For a softer look I scribble some color down onto my image lightly, this will then become even lighter after I go over it with the blender pen. For a brighter look I lay down more color so that when I go over it with a blender pen the image is still bright just more cohesive.

Tips and Tricks

A tip when using the blender pens; keep a scratch piece of paper close by so that you can wipe off the tip of your blender pen after each segment so that the color does not transfer to your image. The pen tips do stain after several uses.

Another tip is when coloring with these pens be sure to use a light touch on whatever medium you choose to work with, this will help you avoid peeling which happens to paper.  Tricks when working with these pens include using the Shimmery White card stock or the watercolor paper for best results. You can even use the pens on all of their other papers.

Techniques

There are many different techniques that you can use when working with the blender pens.

  1. You can stamp an image with a colored ink and before it dries use the blender pen to lightly bring the ink towards the center of the image. This makes the stamped image appear to have shadowing and shading.
  2. You can also use the blender pen to pick up ink that has been put onto clear blocks, this allows for you to pick up the color and add it directly to your image.
