I have a technique’s class that I hold at my house once a month. Last month’s technique was blowing bubbles! Everyone at my class had so much fun I thought I would share how I do it. There is so many things that you can use this technique for. You can use it as a background layer, texture for leaves, or texture for flowers to name a few.
For this technique you need a few small dishes, dish soap, reinkers, watercolor paper, and water, plus a straw. The dishes I used were items that I found at either the Dollar Store or Hobby Lobby, I cannot remember. I would recommend using plastic dishes because the reinkers wmay dye china or porcelain.
Today’s Project- Making a Bubble Background Using the Blowing Bubbles Technique
Between the two ramicans I placed about a 1/4″ cup of water between them. I also put a small amount of dish soap and about twenty or more drops of reinker. Swirl the mixture together until foam appears and then begin to blow bubbles. You can add more drops of reinker to darkern the color until it is the tone you desire.
Gently place the water color paper ontop of the bubbles moving the paper around to capture bubbles.
Repeat this process with all of you colors. Let the paper semi dry in between to fully dry as a damp piece of paper will not capture the circles.
The longer the bubbles sit on the paper the stronger the circular lines are on the watercolor paper.
