DIY Your Own Oceanscape Using Blending Brushes

Karen is away on vacation so I get to play! It is an Alex (Karen’s assistant) takeover on Karen’s social media and blog while she in Oklahoma visiting family. One of my favorite things to play with is the Stampin’ Blending Brushes. I love creating oceanscape scenes because living in Huachuca City we don’t see a lot of rain and visiting a beach requires a bit of a lengthy drive.

The Paradise Palms Bundle and the retiring Sailing Home Cling set are great sets to use when creating beachy cards because you can use the stamps to create the foreground and the middle ground.

This card is great to give to someone retiring or celebrating their birthday!

In addition, for a better overall composition make sure the horizon line is not in the middle of the card. When making the decision on where your horizon line will be, decide if you want more of the ocean or sky showing. This will help to create a more cohisive and interesting card.

Items Used On Card

To create a blended look, I make sure to dab excess ink off of my brushes before swirling the ink onto the cardstock. Making sure to start off the paper before moving onto the cardstock so that I avoid harsh lines that are difficult to blend out.

A tip I have when die cutting out the grass and palm trees is to use the adhesive sheets. This way you won’t have to worry about squishing liquid glue out of the delicate stems and leaves.

Measurements for the Oceanscape Card

Card Base – Thick Basic White – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

Layer One – Shimmery White Cardstock – 5 1/4″ x 4″

Scrap pieces of Basic Black Cardstock for die cutting
