This weekend I had a lovely class where individuals made a fall banner, tags, and cards that were perfect for Christmas! In addition, I love crafting for the fall and winter months because there are so many things to color!
I love coloring and there are several great tools that help me to color my images like a pro! There are Stampin’ Blends, Soft Pastels, Stampin’ Write Markers, and watercolor pencils. One of my favorites is the Stampin’ Blends. They are alcohol-based markers that are useful in creating highlights and shadows for a 3D coloring effect. Futhermore, you can easily blend and build the colors with the Stampin’ Blends because there are two colors that come in a package, the light, and the dark.
Stampin’ Up! Blends are easily coordinated with other Stampin’ Up! products because they are the same shade of color however the tones of the blends allow for easy blending.

Color Like a Pro
To begin, I like to lay down my dark highlights first. Next blend out the edges using the light. The effect helps to make the stamped image have a 3D look and it brings in a lot of different tones that help with the blending.
For this sunflower, I used Calypso Coral and Cinnamon Cider light and dark blends
Using the technique above you can easily add colors to a stamped image to make sure you have a fun and colorful card. Plus shading is easily achieved between the dark and light spaces.
Don’t worry if you make a mistake! Use the color lifter to easily lift away the unwanted color or to create highlights.
Using Blends for Backgrounds
Did you know that you can use Stampin’ blends to create easy backgrounds?
Here is an old card I made using the blends as a background! You can use a ruler to space the lines out.
